Nakheel's palm-shaped island, five kilometres out to sea, with beachfront villas, apartments and resorts.
Palm Jumeirah is master-developed by Nakheel. It stretches five kilometres into the Arabian Gulf in the shape of a date palm and covers 560 hectares, making it one of the world's largest man-made islands. Nakheel says about 25,000 people live there.
The island has three parts: the trunk, with apartments, hotels, marinas, beaches and malls; the fronds, with gated villa communities; and the crescent, reached by a tunnel and lined with beachfront resorts and residences.
